OUR HISTORY

Faith Lutheran Church was started in the early 1970’s as God called Pastor Ken Sinclair to start a new congregation in the Sugar Land area of Houston.  Little did Pastor Ken realize that God would use he and wife Liz to share Christ for the entire 48 + years of their ministry! And what a journey it has been!

As the congregation grew, they purchased 5 acres of land and built a facility on Highway 6. In 1983, Hurricane Alicia spawned a tornado that changed everything. The destruction that was incurred soon became a hidden blessing as the Lord provided double the space on the current site of 800 Brooks street.

The Lord also put within Pastor Ken a vision of sharing space with the community. Currently our location is also utilized by Logos Preparatory Academy, Spirit of Life church, Redeemer Presbyterian Church, I9 Sports, and a host of other organizations.

In 2017 Pastor Ken and the leadership began to look forward to his “refirement” and began an intentional leadership transition process. As that process began to unfold, Pastor Jeff Wuertz of Chesapeake, Va., accepted the call to serve as the “second” pastor in the long history of Faith. A six month overlap incurred, bridging the history of Pastor Ken with the new direction of Pastor Jeff.   Pastor Jeff’s background in church planting fits well with the “new chapter” Faith, Sugarland is now beginning to experience.  As Faith is heading in a new direction under the guidance of the same faithful God who has watched over her history. We hope those reading this will join us as we chart a new path for Faith, Sugar Land, serving our community in new ways!
